Senior Data Engineer
NextStep Recruiting is partnering with a growing healthcare technology organization to identify a Senior Data Engineer for a contract‑to‑hire or direct hire opportunity. This hybrid role blends advanced data engineering with senior-level analytical support, helping build scalable data solutions while delivering meaningful insights to business stakeholders. The ideal candidate will support enterprise data operations, financial workflows, and analytics initiatives while shaping the direction of the organization’s modern data platform.
Responsibilities Include:
Data Engineering & Pipeline Development
• Build and enhance data pipelines using Snowflake, DBT, and Azure-based tools for ingestion, transformation, and automation.
• Manage end‑to‑end workflows, including data quality checks, lineage, governance, and monitoring across batch and near-real-time processes.
• Troubleshoot complex data issues and implement quality controls to ensure accuracy across financial and operational datasets.
• Develop advanced SQL solutions, optimize performance in Snowflake, and create scalable models and structures.
• Streamline manual processes, maintain documentation, and support compliance and governance standards.
Analytics & Business Support
• Address ad hoc data requests by writing efficient SQL and turning business questions into clear analytical outputs.
• Produce polished reports and analyses in Excel for leadership and operational teams.
• Build dashboards and visual reports in Power BI, Grafana, or other visualization platforms.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand analytical needs and surface meaningful insights from healthcare and financial data.
Collaboration & Leadership
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including operations, development, and analytics, to support evolving data requirements.
• Mentor team members, assist with transitions from legacy systems, and contribute to establishing scalable practices.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and follow best practices for development, version control, and deployment workflows.
Required:
• 5+ years of data engineering experience supporting production environments.
• Expert SQL skills, including complex queries, optimization, and database object development.
• Strong proficiency with Snowflake for modeling, tuning, and advanced features.
• Hands-on experience with DBT for transformation logic and testing.
• Knowledge of Azure DevOps/Repos for CI/CD and code collaboration.
• Ability to deliver rapid, high‑quality analytical outputs and communicate insights clearly.
• Strong Excel and visualization tool experience.
• Proven success working with cross-functional teams and managing competing priorities.
Preferred:
• Background in healthcare, revenue cycle, or other regulated datasets.
• Snowflake certifications or advanced Power BI/Grafana skills.
• Familiarity with Airflow, Dagster, or other orchestration tools.
• Experience guiding teams through modernization or hybrid data engineering/analytics roles.
