NextStep Recruiting has partnered with a financial services organization to identify a General Counsel in Tarrant County, Texas. This role is 100% onsite and will lead the legal, compliance, governance, and risk functions supporting a commercial equipment finance platform.


This position is ideal for a business-minded legal executive with significant experience in commercial equipment finance who can advise senior leadership while remaining actively involved in transactions, litigation, workouts, and regulatory matters.


Required:

  • Juris Doctor degree and active license to practice law
  • 10+ years of legal experience, including at least 5 years serving as lead or senior in-house counsel
  • Direct experience within commercial equipment finance or equipment leasing
  • Strong background managing litigation, bankruptcy matters, restructurings, workouts, collections, and enforcement actions
  • Experience advising executive leadership and boards on legal risk, governance, compliance, and complex commercial matters


Preferred:

  • Experience supporting a commercial lender, private credit platform, bank, or specialty finance organization
  • Knowledge of secured lending, UCC requirements, lien perfection, collateral remedies, and state licensing considerations
  • Experience negotiating credit agreements, leases, guarantees, forbearance agreements, settlements, and vendor contracts
  • Exposure to asset-based lending, factoring, capital markets, acquisitions, or private equity-backed environments
  • Track record of reducing outside counsel dependency and building scalable legal processes, policies, and templates
